Books and School Supplies Fundraising
The idea
Make a big difference for a small number of deserving kids that could really use our help.

Our first goal
We would like to have the kids at the Suipacha Rural School in Argentina start the school year in March with brand new books and supplies. This includes school books, workbooks, pencils, pens, paper, a backpack, and some fun stuff like stickers. We would also like to buy the school a new set of encyclopedias and some teachers guides. To do this, we would like to raise $1000 this month.
Why they need our help
In Argentina, unlike America, students are responsible for buying their own school books. The Suipacha Rural School is attended by the kids of poor farm workers that live below the poverty line. These families can hardly afford to eat - so buying new books year after year is impossible.

How we learned about the school
My wife’s mother owns a ranch in near Suipacha Argentina, which is about 60 miles from the city of Buenos Aires. We learned about the school on our last vacation, and we arranged a visit to the school to bring some treats for the kids, and show our kids what a rural school is like in Argentina.
We started our visit in the kindergarden classroom which had about five kids ranging in age from three to five. It was pretty normal looking, despite the run-down classroom decor. After that we sat in on the classroom with the older kids, which was more interesting because I’ve never seen how a one room school house functions. The teacher was working with some of the younger kids, so the older kids were left to study on their own. This is when I noticed that one of the kids had a schoolbook that was missing the cover and some pages – in fact the first page of her book was page 276. After class the teacher told us that they are in need of almost everything, but their greatest need is books.
